13 Directories Worth Submitting Your Site To

One issue for people doing SEO for their sites is which directories to submit to. We all know about DMOZ and Yahoo. Unfortunately, getting listed in DMOZ is difficult, as in many cases one cannot even submit a URL. Getting listed in Yahoo directory will require you to spend $299 upon submission to get reviewed, and $299 annually every year.

Ideally we want to submit to a directory that is free, thus the only cost is the amount of time spent in submission. The issue is that there are many directory sites out there, so which ones should we submit to? Which ones would actually list the submission in a timely fashion? (One directory actually said the wait time is 11 months!) To that end, I submitted sites to more than 40 directories that allow for free submission, and tracked which directory sites actually list my submissions quickly.

Based on my findings, here are 13 directory sites worth submitting to. They all share the following characteristics:

1. They don’t require reciprocal linking.
2. Submitted link appears within a week, often within a day.
3. Links remain on the site for at least 2 weeks.

The sites are listed alphabetically as follows:

blogs-collection.com — this is for blogs
digitaldir.eu
jayde.com
klik-klik.com
linkcentre.com
littlewebdirectory.com
mavicanet.com
netinsert.com
onemission.com
