Here is the browser market share for August 2009, based on traffic to my top site:
Google Chrome: 6.33%
August was the second month in a row where Google Chrome showed the largest increase (+0.48%). This came at the expense of both IE (-0.26%) and Firefox (-0.27%). Google Chrome has been steadily chipping away at both IE and Firefox this year, almost doubling its market share from December 2008 to August 2009. This is something that’s not being picked up by most people because IE and Firefox are still by far the dominant #1 and #2 in the browser space. At the rate Google Chrome has been growing, however, it will reach double digits in market share by early next year, and that figure, along with Google’s ability to put cash into the product (either product development or marketing), will make it truly a force to be reckoned with.
