Browser Market Share, February 2011

Here is the browser market share for February 2011, based on traffic to my top site (number in parentheses shows change from January):

IE: 41.04% (-0.12%)
Firefox: 35.41% (+0.03%)
Google Chrome: 19.58% (+0.17%)
Safari: 1.80% (-0.04%)
Opera: 1.69% (-0.08%)

There is the first time in a while where there is no major change in market share, as no one gained or lost more than 0.2%. Microsoft made IE9 Release Candidate available in February, and according to Microsoft, IE9 Release Candidate was downloaded 11 million times. Together with IE9 Beta, a total of 36 million downloads have taken place for IE9, breaking the record for IE8. Now there is speculation that IE9 will be officially launched some time in March, so it will be interesting to see how the market receives this new version once it launches.
