Browser Market Share, October 2012

Here is the browser market share for October 2012, based on traffic to my top site (number in parentheses shows change from September 2012):

Google Chrome: 36.71% (+0.64%)
IE: 30.77% (-0.31%)
Firefox: 27.10% (-0.59%)
Safari: 2.54% (+0.08%)
Opera: 1.36% (+0.17%)

October 2012 continued to be a strong month for Google Chrome, which gained 0.64% and now leads IE by almost 6%. It appears that the Windows 8 launch had little impact on IE’s market share. On the other hand, since a lot of people will be purchasing computers starting later this month (with Black Friday sales) and through the holiday season now that there is no more reason for the wait, it remains to be seen whether IE’s market share will see an uplift from the Windows 8 launch.
