Here is the browser market share for May 2013, based on traffic to my top site (number in parentheses shows change from April 2013):
Google Chrome: 40.51% (+1.14%)
IE: 29.23% (-0.50%)
Firefox: 24.03% (-0.54%)
Safari: 3.31% (-0.24%)
Opera: 1.10% (-0.01%)
May was a good month for Google Chrome, which gained 1.14% while all other top browsers lost share. May also marked the 6th straight month that Firefox has lost share. StatCounter reported the same trend, though in their report, Chrome grew more than 2%, and IE dropped almost 2% – both more pronounced than what we saw.
May also marked the 6th straight month that Firefox lost market share. Today, Techcrunch published an article about an upcoming major Firefox redesign. It remains to be seen whether this redesign (rollout date is not yet announced) will reverse Firefox’s recent fortunes.
