Here’s the browser market share, based on traffic to my two highest trafficked sites in December 2006:
- IE: 68.0%
- Firefox: 28.3%
- Opera: 2.1%
- Safari: 0.7%
- Mozilla: 0.5%
- Netscape: 0.2%
Compared to the November numbers, IE decreased by 0.2%, while Firefox and Opera each gained 0.1%.
In December, IE7 accounted for 18.1% of all IE traffic (compared to 11.5% in November), while Firefox 2.0 accounted for 49.7% of all Firefox traffic (compared to 38.2% in November). Evidently, 3 months after the IE7 release, and even with Microsoft starting to use automatic download to encourage people to upgrade to IE7, the IE user community is still slow in receiving the latest from Microsoft.
