October 2013 Browser Market Share

Here is the browser market share for October 2013, based on traffic to my top site (number in parentheses shows change fromĀ September 2013):

Google Chrome: 42.98% (+0.80%)
IE: 27.68% (-0.03%)
Firefox: 23.26% (-0.38%)
Safari: 2.64% (-0.34%)
Opera: 1.04% (-0.08%)

Based on our data, Google Chrome was the only browser in the top 5 that gained market share during October, raising 0.80% to 42.98%. How does the browser market share change year over year? Let’s take a look at it:

Not surprisingly, Google Chrome showed tremendous success over the past 12 months, while both IE and Firefox both declined in the 3-4% range. At this rate, by the end of 2014, Google Chrome will have 50% of the browser market share.
